What is a Prepper?
A prepper is an individual who actively prepares for potential emergencies, disasters, or doomsday scenarios with the goal of being prepared and self-reliant.
Preppers are sometimes called survivalists (historically, retreaters), though the term “prepper” has become more popular in recent years. Preppers is the plural of prepper, referring to a group of preppers or the complete prepping community as a whole.
The broadest definition of a prepper is anyone who plans or takes pre-emptive action to prepare for an emergency or disaster.
Prepping has become a type of lifestyle with it’s own culture and community. Prepping can encompass anything from basic preparation, such as building a bug out bag, developing an emergency plan, or stockpiling food supplies, to taking actions to live completely off-the-grid.
As such, there are varying degrees of prepping, and different types of preppers. Survivalists are sometimes considered preppers who participate in a more advanced levels of preparation.
